Cure IBS Naturally

Too many people suffer day-in and day-out with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) for one very poor reason: They do not want to discuss topics like the colon, constipation, diarrhea, or gas. There is a cultural taboo about discussing such private matters, and so people are reluctant to bring the subject up, sometimes even with their health professionals. They suffer through bouts of IBS, wondering if they will ever be able to enjoy a meal or a social event without worrying about or experiencing digestive problems. Unfortunately, many IBS sufferers have used antibiotics for a long time, in the belief that it would cure whatever was causing the problem, but instead were making the condition worse by killing intestinal bacteria.

Drugs are seldom the answer to IBS for one simple reason – health professionals do not know the specific source of IBS, so drugs could not be developed to target a specific issue. As a result, the drugs currently used are ineffective. A much better solution is treating IBS with a natural holistic approach because everything in the body is related. In fact, there are a number of natural treatments that extend to dietary changes, supplementation, psychological treatments, muscle relaxation techniques, exercise, herbal treatments, and homeopathic dosages.

The complexity of IBS is such that there is no single natural treatment recommended. The ideal treatment program is a blend of alternative foods and dietary exclusions, activities and choices that promote a healthy colon. The ideal treatment program is unique to each person because each person experiences a different set of symptoms. The specific symptoms must be addressed in order to achieve the maximum benefits.

  • Dietary Changes – Food can trigger IBS symptoms, so it is necessary to determine which foods or ingredients are causing the problems. One way to narrow the list of potential offenders is to keep a food journal to detect a pattern of items you consume followed by an occurrence of symptoms. You can then begin to eliminate those foods and replace them with foods high in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
  • Lifestyle Changes – Food management is not the only effective IBS management. Perhaps surprisingly to many people is the fact that there appears to be a link between depression and stress and IBS. Stress impacts the entire body so you want to address the entire body, which means potentially including various psychological treatments.

Other lifestyle changes include learning and practicing relaxation techniques for the mind and the body. Exercise will also play an important role in IBS treatment programs. Learning to manage stress and ease the tension in the body will promote healthy digestion.

  • Supplementation and Homeopathy – It is a well known fact that many herbs and homeopathic doses can treat many human diseases. IBS is no different. There are herbs that soothe the stomach and intestines, promote the production of gastric juices, and relax muscles. Homeopathic remedies can also promote a healthy digestive system, but are particularly useful for easing pain and digestive upset when IBS rages.

The specific treatment program depends on your specific symptoms. In the ebook The IBS Miracle™ – How To Free Your Life From Irritable Bowel Syndrome by James Walden, a nutritionist, biomedical researcher and health consultant, you can find detailed explanations of the known natural treatments that can ease IBS symptoms. Even more importantly, it is possible to develop a treatment program that will greatly reduce the chances of experiencing IBS flare-ups in the first place. That is the ultimate prize – good health and the freedom it gives you to live life the way you choose, unrestricted by IBS.

My name is James Walden, and I am a nutritionist, biomedical researcher and health consultant. My mission to help IBS sufferers began the day I realized that we have become a society that believes it is always necessary to take drugs to address every real or suspected health issue. My consternation grew deeper after learning that many of these drugs are antibiotics.

Overuse of antibiotics can kill intestinal bacteria needed for healthy digestion and can create a whole new set of health problems, like IBS symptoms. Unfortunately, this prompts people to take even more drugs that include laxatives and antidiarrheals. It becomes a never ending cycle.

I know…because I once suffered terribly with IBS and tried a number of medications to relieve the symptoms. None of them worked, but they did manage to make me even sicker.

One day, I asked myself: Since health professionals do not definitively know the root cause of IBS, why are so many people taking medications in an attempt to treat the disorder? What is being treated? The only logical answer is that people are turning to drugs out of desperation. They do not have alternatives. That is where this ebook enters the picture.

I wrote IBS Miracle™ – How To Free Your Life From Irritable Bowel Syndrome to give people a greater understanding of IBS and to provide them natural treatment alternatives. In the four chapters, you learn:

  • Current medical research on IBS
  • Typical IBS symptoms
  • Current medical treatments
  • Necessary dietary changes, including foods to eliminate and to add
  • Recommended lifestyle changes that promote relaxation and good health

The Big Diabetes Lie

The Big Diabetes Lie

If you are a diabetic, your physician will never tell you that most cases of diabetes are curable. In fact, if you even mention the “cure” word around him, he will likely become upset and irrational. His medical school training only allows him to respond to the word “treatment”. For him, the “cure” word does not exist. Type 2 diabetes, in its modern epidemic form, is a curable disease and has been for at least 40 years. In 2001, the most recent year for which US figures are posted, 934,550 Americans needlessly died from out-of-control symptoms of this disease.

Your physician will also never tell you that, at one time, strokes, both ischemic and hemorrhagic, heart failure due to neuropathy as well as both ischemic and hemorrhagic coronary events, obesity, atherosclerosis, elevated blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, elevated triglycerides, impotence, retinopathy, renal failure, liver failure, polycystic ovary syndrome, elevated blood sugar, systemic candida, impaired carbohydrate metabolism, poor wound healing, impaired fat metabolism, peripheral neuropathy as well as many more of today’s disgraceful epidemic disorders were once well understood often to be but symptoms of diabetes.

If you contract diabetes and depend upon mainstream medical treatment, sooner or later you will experience one or more of its symptoms as the disease rapidly worsens. It is now common practice to refer to these symptoms as if they were separable, independent diseases with separate, unrelated treatments provided by competing medical specialists.

It is true that many of these symptoms can and sometimes do result from other causes; however, it is also true that this fact has been used to disguise the causative role of diabetes and to justify expensive, ineffective treatments for these symptoms.

Epidemic Type II diabetes is curable. By the time you get to the end of this book, you are going to know that. You’re going to know why it isn’t routinely being cured. And, you’re going to know how to cure it. You are also probably going to be angry at what a handful of greedy people have surreptitiously done to the entire medical community and to its trusting patients.

The Diabetes Industry

Today’s diabetes industry is a massive community that has grown step by step from its dubious origins in the early 20th century. In the last 80 years it has become enormously successful at shutting out competitive voices that attempt to point out the fraud involved in modern diabetes treatment. It has matured into a religion. And, like all religions, it depends heavily upon the faith of the believer. So successful has it become that it verges on blasphemy to suggest that, the kind high priest with the stethoscope draped prominently around his neck is a charlatan and a fraud. In the large majority of cases, he has never cured a single case of diabetes in his entire medical career.

The financial and political influence of this medical community has almost totally subverted the original intent of our regulatory agencies. They routinely approve death-dealing, ineffective drugs with insufficient testing. Former commissioner of the FDA, Dr Herbert Ley, in testimony before a US Senate hearing, commented: “People think the FDA is protecting them. It isn’t. What the FDA is doing and what the public thinks it’s doing are as different as night and day.”

The financial and political influence of this medical community completely controls virtually every diabetes publication in the country. Many diabetes publications are subsidized by ads for diabetes supplies. No diabetes editor is going to allow the truth to be printed in his magazine. If a diabetes magazine starts putting up stories of how to cure your diabetes naturally, then what would be the point of having ads for drugs and supplies? Drug companies would stop sponsoring the magazine and it would go out of business.

The only way the magazine can survive is by printing stories of how great the drugs are. This is why the diabetic only pays about one-quarter to one-third of the cost of printing the magazine he depends upon for accurate information. The rest is subsidized by diabetes manufacturers with a vested commercial interest in preventing diabetics from curing their diabetes. When looking for sources that tell the truth about diabetes, look first to see if it is full of ads for diabetes supplies.

And then there are the various associations that solicit annual donations to find a cure for their proprietary disease. Every year they promise that a cure is just around the corner—just send more money! Some of these very same associations have been clearly implicated in providing advice that promotes the progress of diabetes in their trusting supporters. For example, for years they heavily promoted exchange diets, which are in fact scientifically worthless—as anyone who has ever tried to use them quickly finds out. They ridiculed the use of glycemic tables, which are actually very helpful to the diabetic. They promoted the use of margarine as heart healthy, long after it was well understood that margarine causes diabetes and promotes heart failure.

If people ever wake up to the cure for diabetes that has been suppressed for 40 years, these associations would soon be out of business. But until then, they nonetheless continue to need your support.

For 40 years, medical research has consistently shown with increasing clarity that diabetes is a degenerative disease directly caused by an engineered food supply that is focused on profit instead of health. Although the diligent can readily glean this information from a wealth of medical research literature, it is generally otherwise unavailable. Certainly this information has been, and remains, largely unavailable in the medical schools that train our retail doctors.

Prominent among the causative agents in our modern diabetes epidemic are the engineered fats and oils that are sold in today’s supermarkets.

The first step to curing diabetes is to stop believing the lie that the disease is incurable.

Diabetes History

In 1922, three Canadian Nobel Prize winners, Banting, Best and Macleod, were successful in saving the life of a fourteen-year-old diabetic girl in Toronto General Hospital with inject able insulin. 6 Eli Lilly was licensed to manufacture this new wonder drug, and the medical community basked in the glory of a job well done.

It wasn’t until 1933 that rumors about a new rogue form of diabetes surfaced. This was in a paper presented by Joslyn, Dublin and Marks and printed in the American Journal of Medical Sciences. This paper, “Studies on Diabetes Mellitus”, 7discussed the emergence of a major epidemic of a disease which looked very much like the diabetes of the early 1920s, only it did not respond to the wonder drug, insulin. Even worse, sometimes insulin treatment killed the patient.

This new disease became known as “insulin-resistant diabetes” because it had the elevated blood sugar symptom of diabetes but responded poorly to insulin therapy. Many physicians had great success in treating this disease through diet. A great deal was learned about the relationship between diet and diabetes in the 1930s and 1940s.

Diabetes, which had a per-capita incidence of 0.0028% at the turn of the century, had by 1933 exploded by 1,000% in the United States to become a disease seen by many doctors. 8 This disease, under a variety of aliases, was destined to go on to wreck the health of over half the American population and incapacitate almost 20% by the 1990s. 9

In 1950, the medical community became able to perform serum insulin assays. These assays quickly revealed that this new disease wasn’t classic diabetes; it was characterized by sufficient, often excessive, blood insulin levels.

The problem was that the insulin was ineffective; it did not reduce blood sugar. But since the disease had been known as diabetes for almost 20 years, it was renamed Type II diabetes. This was to distinguish it from the earlier Type I diabetes, caused by insufficient insulin production by the pancreas.

Had the dietary insights of the previous 20 years dominated the medical scene from that point and into the late 1960s, diabetes would have become widely recognized as curable instead of merely treatable. Instead, in 1950, a search was launched for another wonder drug to deal with the Type II diabetes problem.

Cure Versus Treatment

This new, ideal wonder drug would be effective, like insulin, in remitting obvious adverse symptoms of the disease but not effective in curing the underlying disease. Thus it would need to be taken continually for the remaining life of the patient. It would have to be a patentable drug because natural medication is not patentable. Like insulin, it would have to be cheap to manufacture and distribute. Mandatory government approvals would be required to stimulate physicians to prescribe it as a prescription drug. Testing required for these approvals would have to be enormously expensive to prevent other new medications from becoming competitive.

Additionally, natural medications that actually cure disease would have to be suppressed. The more effective they were, the more they would need to be suppressed and their proponents jailed as quacks. After all, it wouldn’t be very profitable for big pharma if diseases could be cured with cheap alternative methods.

This is the origin of the classic medical protocol of “treating the symptoms”. By doing this, both the drug company and the doctor could prosper in business, and the patient, while not being cured of his disease, would just be temporarily relieved of some of his symptoms.

In many cases natural methods work better than most drugs prescribed by doctors. This is why the force of law has been and is being used to drive the natural, often superior, medicines from the marketplace, to remove the word “cure” from the medical vocabulary and to undermine the very concept of a free marketplace in the medical business.

Now it is clear why the “cure” word is so vigorously suppressed by law. The FDA has extensive Orwellian regulations that prohibit the use of the “cure” word to describe any competing medicine or natural substance. It is precisely because many natural substances do actually both cure and prevent disease that this word has become so frightening to the drug companies and mainstream medical community.

The Commercial Value of Symptoms

After the drug development policy was redesigned to focus on relieving symptoms rather than curing disease, it became necessary to reinvent the way drugs were marketed. This was done in 1949 in the midst of a major epidemic of insulin-resistant diabetes.

So in 1949, the US medical community reclassified the symptoms of diabetes along with many other disease symptoms into diseases in their own right. With this reclassification as the new basis for diagnosis, competing medical specialty groups quickly seized upon related groups of symptoms as their own proprietary symptoms set.

Thus the heart specialist, endocrinologist, allergist, kidney specialist and many others started to treat the symptoms for which they felt responsible. As the underlying cause of the disease was widely ignored, all focus on actually curing anything was completely lost. Instead of treating the cause of all these problems, they were broken down and treated separately by themselves.

Heart failure, for example, which had previously been understood often to be but a symptom of diabetes, now became a disease not directly connected to diabetes. It became fashionable to think that diabetes “increased cardiovascular risk”. The causal role of a failed blood-sugar control system in heart failure became obscured.

Consistent with the new medical paradigm, none of the treatments offered by the heart specialist actually cures, or is even intended to cure, their proprietary disease. For example, the three-year survival rate for bypass surgery is almost exactly the same as when no surgery is undertaken.

Today, over half of the people in America suffer from one or more symptoms of this disease. In its beginnings, it became well known to physicians as Type II diabetes, insulin-resistant diabetes, insulin resistance, adult-onset diabetes or more rarely, hyperinsulinaemia.

According to the American Heart Association, almost 50% of Americans suffer from one or more symptoms of this disease. Type II diabetes, also called adult-onset diabetes, now appears routinely in six-year-old children.

Many degenerative diseases can be traced to a massive failure of the endocrine system (the function of the hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, pancreas, adrenal, ovary/testes, and pineal glands which secrete various hormones and influence almost every cell, organ, and function of our bodies). This was well known to the physicians of the 1930s as insulin-resistant diabetes. This basic underlying disorder is known to be a derangement of the blood -sugar control system by badly engineered fats and oils. It is exacerbated and complicated by the widespread lack of other essential nutrition that the body needs to cope with the metabolic consequences of these poisons.

All fats and oils are not equal. Some are healthy and beneficial; many, commonly available in the supermarket and found in most foods, are poisonous. The health distinction is not between saturated and unsaturated, as the fats and oils industry would have us believe. Many saturated oils and fats are highly beneficial; many unsaturated oils are highly poisonous. The important health distinction is between natural and engineered.

There exists great dishonesty in advertising in the fats and oils industry. It is aimed

Epidemiological Lifestyle Link

As early as 1901, efforts had been made to manufacture and sell food products by the use of automated factory machinery because of the immense profits that were possible. Most of the early efforts failed because people were inherently suspicious of food that wasn’t farm fresh and because the technology was poor. As long as people were prosperous, suspicious food products made little headway. Crisco, the artificial shortening, was once given away free in 2 1⁄2 lb cans in an unsuccessful effort to influence American housewives to trust and buy the product in preference to lard.

Margarine was introduced and was bitterly opposed by the dairy states in the USA. With the advent of the Depression of the 1930s, margarine, Crisco and a host of other refined and hydrogenated products began to make significant penetration into the food markets of America. Support for dairy opposition to margarine faded during World War II because there wasn’t enough butter for the needs of both the civilian population and the military. At this point, the dairy industry, having lost much support, simply accepted a diluted market share and concentrated on supplying the military.

Flax oils and fish oils, which were common in the stores and considered dietary staples before the American population became diseased, have disappeared from the shelf. The last supplier of flax oil to the major distribution chains was Archer Daniels Midland, and it stopped producing and supplying the product in 1950.

More recently, one of the most important of the remaining, genuinely beneficial fats was subjected to a massive media disinformation campaign that portrayed it as a saturated fat that causes heart failure. As a result, it has virtually disappeared from the supermarket shelves. Thus was coconut oil removed from the food chain

Mainstream Medical Treatment

After the diagnosis of diabetes, modern mainstream medical treatment consists of either oral hypoglycemic agents or insulin.

  • Oral hypoglycemic agents

In 1955, oral hypoglycemic drugs were introduced. Currently available oral hypoglycemic agents fall into five classifications according to their biophysical mode of action. These classes are: biguanides; glucosidase inhibitors; meglitinides; sulphonylureas; and thiazolidinediones.

The biguanides lower blood sugar in three ways. They inhibit the liver’s normal release of its glucose stores, they interfere with intestinal absorption of glucose from ingested carbohydrates, and they are said to increase peripheral uptake of glucose.

==================== end of chapter preview ====================

  • Insulin

Today, insulin is prescribed for both the Type I and Type II diabetics. Injectable insulin substitutes for the insulin that the body no longer produces. Of course, this treatment, while necessary for preserving the life of the Type I diabetic, is highly questionable when applied to the Type II diabetic.

It is important to note that neither insulin nor any of these oral hypoglycemic agents exerts any curative action whatsoever on any type of diabetes. None of these medical strategies is designed to normalize the cellular uptake of glucose by the cells that need it to power their activity.

The prognosis with these “modern” mainstream treatments is increasing disability and early death from heart or kidney failure or the failure of some other vital organ.

Alternative Medical Treatment

The only way to reverse this disease is to become informed and to apply an alternative methodology that is soundly based upon good science.

Effective alternative treatment that directly leads to a cure is available today for some Type I and for many Type II diabetics.

For the Type I diabetic, an alternative methodology for the treatment of Type I diabetes is now available. It was developed in modern hospitals in Madras, India, and subjected to rigorous double-blind studies to prove its efficacy. It operates to restore normal pancreatic beta cell function so that the pancreas can again produce insulin as it should. This approach apparently was capable of curing Type I diabetes in over 60% of the patients on whom it was tested. The major complication lies in whether the antigens that originally led to the autoimmune destruction of these beta cells have disappeared from or remain in the body. If they remain, a cure is less likely; if they have disappeared, the cure is more likely. For reasons already discussed, this methodology is not likely to appear in the United States any time soon, and certainly not in the American mainstream medical community.

The goal of any effective alternative program is to repair and restore the body’s own blood-sugar control mechanism. It is the malfunctioning of this mechanism that, over time, directly causes all of the many debilitating symptoms that make regular treatment so financially rewarding for the diabetes industry. For Type II diabetes, the steps in the program are:

“So What do I do?”

Start eating the right foods, and avoiding the wrong ones.

How do you know which foods are good and which are bad? Well that’s where our team at the International Council for Truth in Medicine comes in. We have scoured decades of scientific research and thousands upon thousands of studies that have examined foods, food additives, vitamins and minerals and we have combined this knowledge into our 7 Steps to Health guide.

How do you know it works? Unlike most drugs, pills, fad diets, and other useless crap sold to diabetics, our claims are scientifically proven – here are the results:

Our anti-diabetes eating plan is nearly TWICE as effective for lowering blood sugar as taking Metformin – the most widely prescribed drug to treat diabetes.

When scientists compared the American Diabetes Association diet (The one prescribed by most doctors and endorsed by the ADA) vs. the foods used in our eating plan, they found that it lowered cholesterol THREE times more effectively, and was THREE times more effective in treating and beating diabetes than the diet prescribed by the American diabetes association… still think they have your best interests at heart?

More research found how type 1 diabetics could lower their insulin medication by 40% and have their cholesterol drop 30%

Another study investigating various nutritional methods – uncovered how 74% of patients completely stopped the need for oral diabetes medication and 44% stopped the need for insulin after just a few weeks. That’s what some people would call “completely cured” – again; without drugs, pills, surgery or injections.

It’s not just diabetes that you can obliterate. Studies show how you can even lower your chance of dying from heart disease by 31%!

A study done nearly 50 years ago found that people who ate certain foods (which we talk about in detail further down in this book) had THREE times higher risk of stroke.

Simplifying Nutrition

Many of us think that we are well informed about nutrition, although in most cases we are not. We either jump on the no fat or high protein or low carb wagon, then embrace vitamin E or calcium supplements, and usually focus on one nutrient or extremely small aspect of nutrition thinking that we have unlocked the secret of good health. In recent years people have fallen for fad diet after fad diet, the Dr. Atkins or Protein Power craze, Paleo diets, the low fat diets, and countless other diets. But in reality there is increasing evidence that these modern diet fads especially the high protein diets continue to inflict a variety of dangerous health disorders. Most times, not knowing and not understanding nutrition can hurt us.

So why all this confusion? Well, far too often science tends to focus on very specific details while completely ignoring the whole or the larger picture. They put all their effort into one box, one specific nutrient or one very small aspect of the whole, whether it be vitamin E to treat heart disease or vitamin A to prevent cancer isolating specific biological parts of food trying to reach broad conclusions about diet and health. This can lead to contradictory results which confuse scientists and policy makers and end up in a very confused public.

What’s the problem anyway? Is it fats? Is it the carbohydrates? Is it the protein? How many calories should I be eating? What’s the ratio of nutrients that will make me lose weight fast? What vegetables should I be eating for my blood type? Am I eating the right supplements? If you are not exhausted, starving, or constipated from these ridiculous plans then you are probably having a major headache trying to count and measure the fats, carbs, protein, and calories.

This is not health, these are fad diets that are only meant to capitalize on your confusion and make billions of dollars. They are nothing but the worst of science and medicine. If you are looking for a quick fix, or some gimmicky monthly eating plan then maybe this book is not for you. I’m here to give you a much deeper understanding of your body and your health. There is a much easier and simpler way that will bring you more benefit than any fad diet, eating plan, drug or surgery ever can, without any side effects.

The evidence can no longer be ignored. The people in science or medicine who

Importance of Vitamins

Vitamin C

Two-time Nobel Prize winner Dr. Linus Pauling estimated that the rate of heart disease would be reduced by 80 per cent if adults in the US supplemented with 2,000 to 3,000 milligrams (mg) of vitamin C each day. As stated by Dr. Pauling, “Since vitamin C deficiency is the common cause of human heart disease, vitamin C supplementation is the universal treatment for this disease.” In the US, heart disease is the number one killer. Dr. Pauling said that for those with existing heart disease the blockage of heart arteries could actually be reversed by supplementing with 6,000 mg of vitamin C and 6,000 mg of lysine (a common amino acid) taken in divided doses throughout the day. Vitamin C supplementation both lowers serum cholesterol levels and repairs lesions of arterial walls.

1998 Nobel Prize winner Dr. Louis J. Ignarro proved that supplementing with vitamin C and vitamin E significantly reduces the risk of developing arteriosclerosis.

One study looked at Vitamin E and Vitamin C supplementation in relation to mortality risk in 11,178 people aged 67-105 who participated in the Established Populations for Epidemiologic Studies of the Elderly over a nine year period. The use of vitamins E and C simultaneously was associated with a lower risk of total mortality and coronary mortality.

In a massive study following over 85,000 nurses over a long 16-year period with a combined total of 1,240,000 person-years revealed that vitamin C supplementation significantly reduced the risk of heart disease. They found that the

people, that included information on intakes of vitamin E, carotenoids, and vitamin

Vitamin D – The Sunshine Vitamin

Vitamin D is the sunshine vitamin that is one of the oldest hormones on the planet and has been traced back 750 million years, being made by some of the oldest bacteria on earth. Vitamin D is made from something which many people are so keen on reducing; cholesterol! You skin absorbs ultraviolet radiation and with the help of cholesterol turns into vitamin D. Your body can never make too much vitamin D from the sun because a clever system is present which works to destroy any excess vitamin D that may be made.

In 2006, CNN ran a headline news story that stated a massive study proves that vitamin D terminates 50% of all cancers. Since most of the funding for TV comes from pharmaceutical companies, the story was quickly buried. I’m guessing you have never heard of this study, so here it is:

http://edition.cnn.com/2005/HEALTH/12/28/vitamin.cancer.study/

Lets imagine that there was a drug that eliminated 50% of all cancers; it would be worth billions of dollars, it would be on television, radio, newspapers, and magazines all over the world. So here we had CNN with the hottest story of the 21st century, and because of the revenues from pharmaceutical companies the story was buried. Again and again you see how much they really care about you.

Chromium

“….Almost 50 years ago the mineral chromium was established as an essential nutrient at the federal offices of the National Institutes of Health by Dr. Klaus Schwarz. It was precisely for its role in blood sugar metabolism that this trace element chromium was established as essential.

A molecule named Glucose Tolerance Factor (GTF) that corrected abnormal sugar metabolism was found to be composed primarily of the mineral chromium. Dr. Walter Mertz, then an assistant to Dr. Schwarz, reportedly noted at that time in 1959 “Type II diabetes is not a disease. It is the lack of a natural ingredient, known as GTF Chromium.”….

….Chromium works together with insulin in providing sugar to the cells for energy. If chromium levels decrease then sugar delivery to the cells from insulin decrease accordingly.

Modern medical terms such as “insulin resistance” and “insulin sensitivity” should be replaced by “gross chromium deficiency”. It is not that insulin is “resistant” or lacks “sensitivity,” but rather that insulin is lacking a vital – in fact essential – component for sugar metabolism that is this mineral chromium.

Insulin is a transport mechanism. It is like a truck that transports glucose to the cell. At the cell destination there is an insulin receptor site that is comparable to a loading dock. This is where the glucose is unloaded and passed into the cell. Chromium rich GTF molecules are in essence dock workers that assist the sugar (glucose) from the insulin “truck” at the insulin receptor site “loading dock” into the cell. If there are less and less GTF chromium “dock workers” then the work of providing sugar to the cells for energy slows and becomes unproductive. A traffic jam of insulin “trucks” in the blood stream results in higher and higher levels of blood sugar as the problem of chromium deficiency increases with the passing of time.

Whole wheat and raw sugar from sugar cane are rich in chromium. The refining of whole wheat into bleached, white flour removes 91 per cent of that chromium. The refining of raw sugar into white sugar removes 98 per cent of that chromium. [This is why raw foods, even some high in sugar content, are perfectly healthy due to the added minerals, vitamins, and enzymes which are perfectly balanced to that specific food, helping it digest and absorb flawlessly into your body. As soon as any food is refined or cooked it loses some, or all, of the required elements and thus becomes not as beneficial as it was before]

The refined flour and refined sugar are quickly reduced in the body into simple sugars that require chromium to be efficiently metabolized – chromium that is substantially no longer there. The most important component for your body to use the refined flour and refined sugar is very nearly entirely removed. This turns foods wholly good for you into those which are essentially unholy foods to you.

Quite literally every time you consume a refined, white flour or refined, white sugar product your body loses chromium.

If we were to eat raw organic foods and sprouted grains that grew without pesticides or GMO on clean mineral rich natural soil, we would be eating so many natural vitamins, nutrients, enzymes, and minerals that there physically would be no disease in our bodies. It would be biologically impossible to get any disease (unless of course deliberately). There would also be no need for “natural cures” or “vaccines” or packaged vitamins since we would be getting them all from our food. Nature is perfect, and any meddling with perfection looses that perfection.

Dr. Henry Alfred Schroeder, M.D., Ph.D., graduate of Columbia and Yale, and professor at Dartmouth medical school wrote more than 30 years ago that “the typical American diet, with about 60 per cent of its calories from refined sugar, refined flour, and fat … was apparently designed not only to provide as little chromium as feasible, but to cause depletion of body stores of chromium.”

Dr. Schroeder compared tissue levels of chromium in teenagers and those 40 years of age in Americans to those of three other cultures that did not follow after

A 12-week London study was recently conducted involving 58 type 2 diabetics with hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels over 7 percent. Hemoglobin A1c is a marker for long-term glycemic control in diabetics.

After 12 weeks on 2g of cinnamon per day, study subjects had significantly lower HbA1c levels, as well as significantly reduced blood pressures (systolic, SBP and diastolic, DBP).

The researchers’ conclusion:

“Intake of 2g of cinnamon for 12 weeks significantly reduces the HbA1c, SBP and DBP among poorly controlled type 2 diabetes patients. Cinnamon supplementation could be considered as an additional dietary supplement option to regulate blood glucose and blood pressure levels along with conventional medications to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus.”

Among this spice’s most impressive health benefits is its impact on blood sugar and ability to improve glucose control.

For example, just half a teaspoon of cinnamon a day has previously been shown to significantly reduce blood sugar levels, triglycerides, LDL (bad) cholesterol, and total cholesterol levels in people with type 2 diabetes.

Another study found that the spice increased glucose metabolism by about 20 times, which would significantly improve your ability to regulate blood sugar. Cinnamon has even previously been indicated as a potential insulin substitute for those with type 2 diabetes due to a bioactive component with “insulin-like” effects.

30 Day Diabetes Plan

Almost every single person who has dedicated 30 days to this protocol has seen their diabetes completely disappear. Take the 30 day challenge and watch your diabetes melt away. You must follow this protocol exactly as written if you want to get rid of your diabetes in 30 days, no exceptions. If you are unable to do everything, then your results might come a little slower, and it might take 2-6 months.

Before I describe the plan, there are a few assumptions I make:

  • You don’t smoke or chew tobacco
  • You don’t drink soda/soft drinks or eat at fast food restaurants
  • You don’t use recreational drugs
  • You don’t drink alcohol
  • You don’t drink more than a cup of coffee a day

If you do any of these things you are creating the perfect environment for the development of diabetes, and thus I highly recommend you avoid them.

The list below is pretty much the absolute best that you can possibly do to destroy diabetes fast. If you decide to implement everything that is written, then you are a true warrior of your health, you will see the results quicker than anyone, and you will achieve a healthy glowing and beautiful body in no time. For some it may not be as easy so please remember to take it slow and do what you feel is best for you.

Start slowly, see and feel the result, then continue to add further changes. Do what you can, as best you can, you don’t have to overwhelm yourself.

For you to reap the full benefits of your health and wellbeing, never get sick or develop disease, the following list should become a lifestyle commitment and not just a temporary measure.

  1. No junk fats. This is the main reason why diabetes occurs. You must never eat trans fats, hydrogenated fats, fried or heavily processed fats, canola oil, soy oil, margarine, crisco, etc. (You can learn more about these fats and how to avoid them in the full 7 Steps to Health book)
  2. No white foods. This includes sugar, white flour, white pasta, gluten containing

Yes Foods

The following foods are a diabetes fighting arsenal and you can eat them as much as you like.

  1. Raw, whole, fresh fruits and vegetables. The easiest way to stay healthy is to pack your meals with at least 50% raw foods. Every meal should be at least half made of raw fruits or vegetables. Spinach, kale, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, radishes, squash, carrots, leeks, sprouts etc. Buy them organic if you can.
  2. Good Fats and Oils. The only oils that should go anywhere near your plate are flax oil, hemp oil, coconut oil, and some olive oil due to the fact that your cells walls are hard, rigid, and don’t allow nutrients, insulin, or oxygen to flow in and out. If you want to get rid of diabetes and other diseases, you must never consume trans fats, hydrogenated fats, and regular vegetable oils like canola or soy. This includes all regular pastries, cakes, cookies, fast foods, pre-packaged foods, TV dinners, and mostly everything found in a grocery store. This is the reason the diabetes epidemic

If You Want to Overcome Hypothyroidism – Don’t Do This!

I’m sure you are well aware that there’s no shortage of information on the internet, especially when it comes to Hypothyroidism.

The good news is that all of this information helps to bring much needed awareness to Hypothyroidism and the DEVASTATING effects it can have on your life.

But what if I told you that 95% of hypothyroidism sufferers, like yourself, are using treatment options that are actually causing more harm than good… making you more hypothyroid every day?

Why?

Because they are based entirely on misinformation instead of sound and scientific research.

The real question is… How can you protect yourself from this misinformation and from becoming just another one of these 95% of sufferers who are doing it all wrong?

Well, I just found this great hypothyroidism resource which will really help clear up the confusion for you. The following video I’m about to share with you contains a lot of great information on how to naturally overcome hypothyroidism by stopping it directly at the source.

The best part is that it’s actually based on scientific research… Scientific research that I will bet that you have never even seen before.

Click the video below to watch it:

Hypothyroidism Symptoms

Hypothyroidism is most well known for its relationship to your metabolism and oftentimes weight gain or the inability to lose weight. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg when you begin to look at the multitude of various hypothyroidism symptoms ranging from digestive to sensory symptoms.

But also keep in mind that different people develop different symptoms. There is no one set pattern of symptoms that all hypothyroid people progress through. It all has to do with how your body responds and compensates.

One person might gain 30 lbs. and be unable to lose it no matter what. And the next person may develop heart palpitations or chronic depression.

If you find yourself suffering from any of these symptoms then you have to strongly consider that you very well might be hypothyroid. And I encourage you to take an active role in your health because all too often we place our health in the hands of others who don’t have our best interests in mind.

So, do yourself a favor and educate yourself, or find someone who is willing to educate you on what is really happening with your body and what the underlying cause of your health problems really is. Only then can you make an educated decision as to what is best for your health.

A Quick Note on Hypothyroidism Testing Flaws

And keep in mind that most thyroid test options are flawed and oftentimes lead to a false negative hypothyroidism diagnosis. And so millions of people go untreated or are improperly treated for various other related symptoms that stem from underlying hypothyroidism.

Because of this, I often recommend what is called a therapeutic trial to confirm your own diagnosis. This is where you follow a proper hypothyroidism treatment protocol including the right hypothyroidism diet and monitor your symptoms.

If your hypothyroidism symptoms improve then you can confirm that your speculation was correct.

Most people, doctors, and healthcare professionals fail to make this connection and far too often the underlying cause of your health problems is missed or misdiagnosed.

Your thyroid is responsible for so much more than increasing your metabolism and helping you to lose weight. It plays an important role in balancing and producing hormones, reducing cholesterol, reducing inflammation within your body, fighting cancer, reducing your risk of autoimmune disease, keeping your brain energized and mentally alert, and slowing the natural aging process.

So many of the hypothyroidism symptoms listed above can be both easily avoided or easily eliminated when you learn how to properly restore the function and health of your thyroid. And it always begins with properly educating and empowering yourself to take control of your health.

Hypothyroidism Diet

Don’t expect to hear this from your doctor, but following the right hypothyroidism diet plan is by far the biggest factor in overcoming hypothyroidism. You can do everything else right and be using the best available supplements or medication, but if your diet isn’t right, then you will be forever fighting a battle that you just can’t win.

Then there’s the problem of actually finding the “right” hypothyroidism diet to follow. Most diets for hypothyroidism are completely outdated and based on poor research, if any research at all. But there’s also a lot of great research out there that is just now starting to connect a lot of the dots with hypothyroidism.

But unfortunately, it will take years or even decades for the general public, or even the medical community, to accept the fact that many of the dietary beliefs that exist today are completely false. And there’s a good chance that they never will.

Until that time comes, I plan to share all kinds of hypothyroidism diet tips with you, starting with these 10 below.

10 Hypothyroidism Diet Tips to Help Heal Your Thyroid

Below I’ve broken down 10 important tips that are a necessity for any successful hypothyroidism diet. But more importantly, I’ve broken them down so that you also understand why they are so important.

All too often, we accept many things that we read as the truth without questioning or verifying the facts with the proper research.

1. Avoid Anti-Thyroid Foods

The first hypothyroidism diet tip that I want to share with you is one that is very important. And this is because it’s a controversial topic because there are some highly touted “health foods” that you are eating which are actually contributing to your hypothyroidism.

Some of the first foods that come to mind are any food that contains soy. This includes soybeans, edamame, soy milk, tofu, etc. Soy is very estrogenic and estrogens have been shown to inhibit the thyroid gland from secreting its thyroid hormones.

And this is disturbing because I have seen more than one, very well respected hypothyroidism diet and hypothyroidism treatment program that actually recommend soy without ever discussing this very important link.

Another very controversial food that directly contributes to hypothyroidism is the polyunsaturated fats in your diet. And one reason this is such a big problem is that these fats have been touted for years for their beneficial properties while ignoring the research that clearly show the dangers.

But when it comes to your thyroid, these fats suppress its function on just about every level. First of all, they block the secretion of your thyroid hormone from the thyroid gland itself. Then they also block the transportation of the thyroid hormone within your bloodstream. And lastly, they block your cells from properly utilizing the hormone once they get it.

The research against these fats simply can’t be ignored. And the best hypothyroidism diet should exclude these fats at all costs. Or else you’re only setting yourself up for failure.

2. Increase Your Saturated Fats

Saturated fats on the other hand carry a lot of unfounded negative criticism. Criticizers of saturated fats still continue to cite outdated and poorly executed research studies from more than 50 years ago while ignoring the enormous amount of research showing their benefits.

One of the major benefits of the saturated fats being part of your hypothyroidism diet is that they help to cancel out the negative effects of the toxic polyunsaturated fats.

They also help by improving your body’s insulin response which helps you to maintain balanced blood sugar levels and reduce stress hormones. Elevated stress hormones are also one of the many hypothyroidism causes.

But you do have to be careful with many animal fats because they might not be quite what they seem on the outside. For example, all conventionally raised cattle are fattened with corn, soy, and other foods that are high in polyunsaturated fats. And because of this, their body fat becomes very unsaturated in the process.

So it’s important to include only high quality saturated fats in your diet for hypothyroidism. This includes fats from grass fed and grass finished animals, butter, and coconut oil.

3. Eat Your Fruit

Fruit can actually be one of your best friends when it comes to your hypothyroidism diet.

For starters, most fruit is very high in potassium which plays an important role in regulating your blood sugar. This helps to decrease the need of insulin which helps keeps your blood sugar more stable for longer periods of time.

And by regulating your blood sugar, you automatically reduce your stress hormone response which, as I mentioned above, is a common problem with hypothyroidism.

However, there are some fruits which are best avoided. Avocados are a good example because of their high unsaturated fat content.

So, the key is to focus you hypothyroidism diet on the right fruits and avoid those that are working against you.

4. Increase Your Salt Intake

There are a lot of myths out there regarding salt and sodium. But it’s more important than most people realize, especially when it comes to your hypothyroidism diet.

Sodium is actually a very important nutrient that your body needs to carry out a multitude of functions. For example, sodium is necessary for properly regulating blood pressure. But it also has some other important functions in dealing with hypothyroidism.

One of the more common hypothyroidism symptoms is edema. And edema is a problem with your cells that causes them to take up more water. But when your cells take up water, they lose sodium which is then excreted and lost through your urine.

And when your sodium level is low, it actually slows your metabolism and increases your stress hormones which can also lead to sleep problem. And elevated stress hormones end up making you even more hypothyroid.

And because you get sodium from salt, it should make sense that salt is a necessary component of your hypothyroidism diet in order to help keep your stress hormones to a minimum and reverse hypothyroidism.

And most people need a lot more than they think.

5. Get Plenty of Bone Broth

Most people don’t even know what bone broth is, let alone that it’s one of the best sources of protein that you can get. Bone broth was actually a common part of most people’s diets more than a century ago. But now, it’s become an almost entirely forgotten component of almost every hypothyroidism diet.

Bone broth is best known for being high in nutrients and very easy to digest. But it’s unique because it contains a blend of very anti-inflammatory amino acids that are lacking among most sources of meat.

6. Eat Some Shellfish

Living close to water definitely has its perks, especially when it comes to seafood. But shellfish in general are actually very beneficial to your thyroid and can play a crucial role in your hypothyroidism diet.

For starters, they are a good source of thyroid hormone which we rarely get in our standard meat based diet these days. So eating shellfish alone can help give your thyroid some much needed support.

Another amazing benefit of shellfish is that they are naturally high in selenium. And selenium is one of the key nutrients that are required to convert the inactive T4 to the active T3 thyroid hormone in your liver.

7. Cut the Processed Foods

If it’s one thing that almost every hypothyroidism diet can agree with, it’s that processed foods have no place whatsoever in your diet.

Processed and/or packaged foods are loaded with processed grains that cause lots of problems with your blood sugar. And this causes a spike in your insulin levels which eventually leaves you with low blood sugar. And this creates yet another stress hormone response in order to raise your blood sugar levels back to normal.

There’s also the issue of these processed foods being full of toxic chemicals like flavor enhancers and preservatives. These chemicals are toxic and contribute to liver congestion which makes it even more difficult for your liver to convert the necessary thyroid hormones into their active form.

8. Cook Your Veggies

This is another one of the more controversial topics when it comes to your hypothyroid diet. And that’s because there’s a lot of misconceptions out there regarding raw vs. cooked veggies.

Yes, raw veggies do contain more nutrients than cooked veggies. But it’s not about what you eat; it’s about what you digest.

Because raw veggies are very difficult to digest, you actually extract fewer nutrients from them raw than you do from cooked veggies.

You also want to really cook your veggies well in order to help break down the fiber and make the nutrients as readily available as possible. Otherwise, the fiber can become food for bad gut bacteria which is problematic and also contributes to hypothyroidism.

9. Don’t Overdo the Water

Continuing in our long list of controversial hypothyroidism diet topics, let’s discuss water.

Most people are led to believe that they need 8 glasses of water a day or even more. But what we already know about hypothyroidism is that is causes water retention. So why does it make sense to drink even more water when your body has a problem getting rid of it in the first place?

It doesn’t.

And this can cause your sodium levels to drop even more which as I mentioned above, also contributes to hypothyroidism.

The best recommendation for water while on your hypothyroidism diet is to drink when thirsty. If you work outside in the sun then odds are you’ll need more water than me while I’m sitting here indoors moving only my fingers on the keyboard.

The amount of water you really need depends on many variables. And your thirst is the best indicator of how much you need.

10. Drink Your Coffee

I thought I would round out the 10 hypothyroidism diet tips with… coffee.

Believe it or not, but coffee has some amazing benefits for your thyroid. But keep in mind that it has to be taken right or else it can have some negative effects. You should never drink coffee on an empty stomach. And it’s important to add the right ratios of fat and sugar.

Coffee is high in caffeine which works to stimulate your thyroid. It’s also high in magnesium and B vitamins which are both necessary for proper thyroid function.

Studies also back up these claims showing that coffee drinkers have the lowest incidence of thyroid disease, including cancer.

I know that many of the tips that I just gave you are controversial. But they are all based on research even though the research might not have made it into the public eye for one reason or another. That’s a topic for another article. But I hope that you’ve learned some very useful tips that you can immediately put into action and incorporate into your hypothyroidism diet today to start seeing some results.

Hypothyroidism Exercise

Exercising with hypothyroidism has been quite a misunderstood topic. Many people claim that exercise has huge benefits for people suffering from hypothyroidism. And some others tend to disagree. The truth is that exercise CAN have some amazing benefits BUT not all exercise is created equal. In fact, most forms of exercise will further damage your thyroid. But there are some very beneficial forms of hypothyroid exercise that have proven that they can be a very effective component of your hypothyroidism treatment plan.

And don’t forget to make your exercise even more effective by following the right hypothyroidism diet for even better and faster results.

The Wrong Kind of Hypothyroidism Exercise

I want to make sure that I make myself clear… Most forms of exercise are not beneficial and will only make you more hypothyroid.

This is because most forms of exercise cause excessive stress to your body.

Think about how exercise is supposed to work for a minute…

Almost all exercise is catabolic by nature, meaning that the stress of it causes your body to break down its own tissue. And it’s not until after this exercise that your body’s natural repair processes start up and your body recovers from the stress with the goal of rebuilding itself stronger than before.

But you have to realize that when you are hypothyroid, your body cannot properly recover from stressful exercise. So while you are hitting the gym thinking that you’re doing some great hypothyroidism exercise, you are continuously breaking down your body even more while your body fails to rebuild itself.

Eventually, your body breaks down to the point that if you’re lucky, you just run out of gas and you just can’t muster enough energy to make it to the gym. But more often than not, you end up with some sort of injury that sidelines your gym efforts.

And this is actually quite common due to the calcification of soft tissues that is one of the common hypothyroidism symptoms. But that’s a topic of another article.

Studies have also shown that these poor choices of hypothyroidism exercise cause your body to stop producing T3 almost immediately. And if that’s not an indication of a problem, then I don’t know what is.

I think that most people fail to realize that hypothyroidism is a respiratory problem. And without going into detail here, when you perform these types of poor hypothyroidism exercise, it forces your body to shift even further away from your healthy and thyroid supportive, oxidative energy system. And this makes you even more hypothyroid, which continues to carry over even after your workout.

So here I’ve listed some of the worse kinds of hypothyroidism exercise that you should be avoiding at all costs.

Cardiovascular Exercise

Personally, I think it’s absolutely ridiculous that so many people recommend cardio as a good form of hypothyroid exercise. And because people tend to push themselves to their limit when it comes to doing cardio, it makes it even worse.

Cardio exercise causes a chronic stress response from your body which is extremely catabolic. You might lose some weight but it’s most likely going to be from the breakdown of muscle tissue. And this process is not only stressful and inflammatory to your body, but it also contributes to hypothyroidism.

Any Form of Intense Exercise

I’ve seen a major shift in the exercise world which has been brought around mostly because cardio exercise doesn’t get results. And I think a large part of the problem really stems from the fact that most people are hypothyroid to begin with.

So, there’s been a major shift away from traditional cardio and to shorter and much more intense workouts. But this also has some major pitfalls, making it another poor hypothyroidism exercise choice.

When you’re hypothyroid, you already have a problem storing sugar in your liver. And these intense workouts require your body to use large amounts of sugar very quickly. And when this sugar isn’t available, then your body takes a beating. And again, this causes significant amounts of stress that leave you unable to recover and even more hypothyroid in the end.

The Right Kind of Hypothyroidism Exercise

The right kind of hypothyroidism exercise is very contradictory to the current exercise philosophy of working harder to get better results. In most cases, doing less is actually the key.

I’m going to give you three forms of exercise that are highly recommended for hypothyroidism. And this is because they are not catabolic in nature and do not work to break down your body.

Instead they promote and stimulate your body’s repair processes and create an anabolic, or tissue rebuilding, effect.

There are a few similarities between these three forms of good hypothyroidism exercise that I think are worth pointing out.

One of the biggest similarities is that they all place their primary focus on proper breathing. And this is far more important that you probably realize.

They do this because it’s the breathing techniques that they use which work to stimulate your healthy oxidative energy system. And without going into too much detail, this triggers your parasympathetic nervous system which is what promotes your body’s natural repair process.

And you’ll also notice that none of these forms of exercise are intense. Instead they are designed to focus on so much more than your muscles. They are balancing your energy system, your hormones, and so many other processes that work behind the scenes which are the true dictators of your health.

Instead of creating stress on your body, they are actually lower your stress level and hormones.

Below I’ve listed 3 great forms of hypothyroidism exercise. Find which one resonates with you the most and use it to your advantage.

Tai Chi

I’m a huge fan of Tai Chi and I think its benefits speak for itself.

I’ve mentioned many times that thyroid function decreases with age and that many of the health problems common among the elderly community are in fact a result of hypothyroidism.

And I think that the testament to the effectiveness of Tai Chi can be seen in the amazing success that it has been providing the elderly community. It’s slowly gaining ground with this age population but the results speak for themselves.

Also, consider the fact that as you age, your body’s healing processes slow down. So, if it’s this effective with the elderly, then imagine how effective it can be for the younger population.

Qigong

Qigong is another great type of hypothyroidism exercise. I understand that there are many differences between Tai Chi and Qigong, but for all intensive purposes I would say that they are similar in nature and the results that they provide.

Tai Chi tends to be more structured whereas Qigong is freer flowing.

I definitely recommend trying them both and finding which one you find you enjoy more.

Yoga

Yoga for hypothyroidism is one form of hypothyroidism exercise that you have to be a little more careful about. And that’s because there are many different forms and practices of yoga and not all are created equal.

You really want to stick with a less intensive form that focuses heavier on breathing and flexibility as opposed to many forms that are much more intense.

Again, I cannot stress enough the importance of using the right kind of hypothyroidism exercise as part of your treatment for hypothyroidism. It can really help accelerate your results and health to new levels.

Hypothyroidism Treatment

There’s a big problem within the medical community today with their approach to treating a number of health problems and diseases. And 9 out of 10 times, this problem exists because their treatments are driven entirely by financial interests and NOT the best interests of the patients who are suffering. And their current sub par approach to hypothyroidism treatment is one that understandably fits the bill.

In just a minute, I’m going to give you some important tips that your doctor isn’t telling you about, which are necessary for any successful hypothyroidism treatment. But before I do, I want to talk a little bit about why none of this is even discussed within the medical community.

Hypothyroidism Treatment – Then and Now

Here’s something that most people don’t realize.

Long ago, before the pharmaceutical industry was pulling in over $500 billion dollars (yes, I said billion) each year from drug sales, the doctors at the time were far more successful at treating hypothyroidism than they are today.

Long ago, doctors clearly understood the far reaching effects of hypothyroidism. It was extremely common for doctors to find that hypothyroidism was involved in the majority of their patients’ health problems. And oftentimes, the right hypothyroidism treatment would not only eliminate all of their symptoms, but also leave them with a clean bill of health.

Today, doctors have become far less accustomed to determining the underlying cause of disease. And instead, they have become far too accustomed to treating only their patients’ symptoms. And by using drugs to merely cover up your hypothyroidism symptoms, you do absolutely nothing to improve your state of health. And so it’s very common that you develop newer and more severe symptoms in the process.

Unfortunately, when there’s more than $500 billion dollars at stake each year, there’s no real incentive to heal people. There’s far too much money to be made if people continue to stay sick and develop new and more serious health problems that require the use of even more drugs.

But if we went back to our old ways of using far more effective hypothyroid treatment options, then there would be too few people left to spend all of their hard earned money on a lifetime of prescription drugs.

The Truth About Hypothyroidism Treatment

The truth is that there is so much more that you can do to treat hypothyroidism than what your doctor may or may not recommend.

But as I mentioned above, because the medical community is largely driven by the financial interests of the pharmaceutical industry, most patients are sent home with the wrong medication that oftentimes only makes their hypothyroidism worse in the end (more about that below).

A quick search on just about any online medical reference will quickly tell you that there are certain foods and supplements that may affect your ability to absorb many of the thyroid medications that are readily prescribed.

But not a single one mentions any foods or supplements that can directly affect your ability to produce or utilize the thyroid hormone that your body natural makes. In fact, most medical professionals will tell you that your diet has little to no impact whatsoever on the health of your thyroid.

But when start to look at the research, it tells a very different story.

5 Essential Steps for Hypothyroidism Treatment Success

You can throw all of the supplements, medication, etc at your thyroid that you want. But if you don’t get the basics right, then you’re essentially wasting your time. And this is because you are missing the bigger picture.

Below I’m going to cover 5 essential steps that are an integral part of any hypothyroidism treatment if you want to truly restore your life, health, and energy.

1. Start a Hypothyroidism Treatment Diet

There has been a lot of research that demonstrates the important connection between your diet and hypothyroidism. There are certain foods that directly contribute to hypothyroidism and should be avoided as part of your treatment for hypothyroidism. And there are certain nutrients that are necessary for your thyroid to function properly.

So it should only make sense that your diet should play a big role in your hypothyroidism treatment.

One of the best examples of a problem food are the polyunsaturated fats. Research clearly shows that these fats block your thyroid from releasing its thyroid hormones, block your thyroid hormone from being transported properly within your bloodstream, and blocks your cells from properly using your thyroid hormone.

And there are key nutrients that your body needs to effectively produce the necessary thyroid hormones that it needs to keep your cells happy and healthy.

And that brings us to the second step.

2. Restore Your Liver Health

Most of the active thyroid hormone, T3, that your body uses is produced by your liver. But your liver can’t do this unless it has plenty of stored glycogen and certain nutrients, such as selenium.

So if your blood sugar is out of balance and your hypothyroidism diet lacks certain key nutrients then your liver can’t do its job. And even though your thyroid gland itself may not be the problem, your liver can be responsible for slowing it down, resulting in hypothyroidism.

So the health of your liver is another major consideration when it comes to your hypothyroidism treatment.

3. Improve Your Lifestyle Management

Most people take their lifestyle for granted. But the truth is that your lifestyle can be a determining factor in whether or not your hypothyroidism treatment is successful or whether you continue to become even more hypothyroid.

And no matter how you look at it, it always boils down to stress.

But most people don’t realize what stress actually does to the health of your thyroid. For starters, it starts an entire cascade of hormonal reactions within your body, many of which are inflammatory and cause even more stress.

Your stress hormones also play an active role in suppressing your thyroid. It does this by both inhibiting your liver from converting T4 to active T3, as mentioned above, and by increasing the conversion to the hormone, Reverse T3, which effectively blocks your thyroid function.

And the more stressful our lives become, the more important it becomes to keep stress to a minimum as part of your hypothyroidism treatment.

4. Balance Your Blood Sugar

Speaking of stress and stress hormones, one of the fastest and most common ways to increase your stress hormones is to allow your blood sugar to drop too low.

When this happens, your body increases your stress hormone, cortisol, which is responsible for breaking down your muscle tissue in order to raise your blood sugar back up.

But as I’ve already mentioned above, cortisol works against your thyroid.

So, balancing your blood sugar should be an extremely important part of any hypothyroidism treatment.

3. Use the Right Thyroid Supplement(s)

Once you get your diet right, liver healthy, stress hormones under control, and blood sugar balanced, then your thyroid will begin to function far more effectively. But for some, it still might not be quite enough to get their thyroid health completely back to normal.

And only then is when thyroid supplementation can come in handy as part of your hypothyroidism treatment.

Your entire hormonal system is very complex and oftentimes hormonal feedback pathways can really inhibit your thyroid hormones from returning to normal levels. And in these situations, supplementing with the right thyroid hormones can help restore proper hormonal levels rather quickly.

But not all thyroid supplements are created equal. And some have no business being part of any hypothyroidism treatment plan.

For example, iodine is oftentimes the wrong choice of supplementation which can actually cause more harm than good.

And the medical community continues to prescribe T4 only medication when research clearly shows that it is not effective for the majority of people. And too often, this additional T4 will actually make you even more hypothyroid which is very counterproductive when it comes to hypothyroidism treatment.

The key is to find the right combination of hormones that your body needs to restore balance.

Hypothyroidism Treatment Results

It’s also important to consider that there are also factors that affect how fast or slow that you begin to see the results of implementing the steps mentioned above in your hypothyroidism treatment plan.

For example, it can vary largely due to a woman’s cycle. This is because of the role that estrogen and progesterone play in her ability to handle certain nutrients in her diet. It’s not uncommon for her symptoms to return when estrogen peaks during her cycle. But it normally only takes a cycle or two before things begin to stabilize.

If you can get a handle on these 5 essential steps for hypothyroidism treatment success then you will be well on your way to not only seeing improvements with your hypothyroidism but also with fully restoring your health and energy.

Ancient Teeth Whitening Methods

Our ancestors were also concerned about whiter teeth. They used different methods to achieve a shining smile. The ancient Egyptians around 4000 years ago started the process of teeth whitening. They were very much concerned with appearing beautiful and wealthy. Thus they mixed wine vinegar with ground pumice stone in order to create a white paste which they applied to their teeth.

The ancient Romans used urine as bleach to whiten their teeth. It was the ammonia in the urine that contributed to a bright smile.

The Greeks of old times applied strange mixtures and chemicals to their teeth which they extracted from leaves.

During the 17th century people used to go to their barber to whiten their teeth. The barber filed the teeth and rubbed nitric acid to them. Unfortunately this practice, left people with a few or no teeth at all because they decayed.

The Europeans of the Renaissance applied bleach to their teeth. They had whiter teeth for a limited period but as time passed their enamel started to wear away resulting in tooth decay.

In the early 19th century, fluoride was discovered in order to maintain healthy teeth. On the other hand an excessive use of fluoride caused teeth staining.

Applying Bleaching Gel To Brighten Teeth

One of the teeth whitening methods that many people try at home is using a bleaching gel. Bleaching gel is pretty inexpensive and easy to find. Bleaching gels are made from a peroxide solution that can be applied in several different ways. The gel can be applied in a bleaching tray that fits over the teeth, or with a small brush or a toothbrush. It also can be put into a bleaching pen and applied with the pen.

Advantages of Using Bleaching Gel
One of the advantages of using bleaching gel to brighten teeth is the ease of use. Because you can use the gel in a tray, in a pen, or painted directly onto the teeth with a brush it makes it easy for people to apply the gel in whatever method works for them. Bleaching gel works in as little as 10 minutes, which makes it perfect for people who want to brighten their teeth before going out or going to work. Bleaching gel also is not as messy as some other types of tooth whitening products because it is a thick gel. But despite the advantages using bleaching gel is not always the best choice for tooth whitening.

Disadvantages of Using Bleaching Gel
Bleaching gel, like many other peroxide based tooth whiteners, doesn’t dramatically whiten teeth. If your teeth have some minor staining or are just looking dull then a bleaching gel will make your teeth look whiter. But if your teeth are discolored or seriously stained the peroxide gel won’t have enough power to dramatically whiten your teeth. Another disadvantage is that the gel has to stay on your teeth in order to work which means you can’t eat, drink, or do anything that might loosen the gel from the teeth the entire time that you’re wearing the gel. Using the gel everyday can weaken the enamel on your teeth and over time it can cause sensitivity or make any existing sensitivity worse.

Bleaching Pen Is A Teeth Whitening Product

One option when it comes to whitening teeth at home is a bleaching pen. A bleaching pen is similar in design to a laundry stain treating pen. It’s a hollow container filled with a whitening gel that is peroxide based. You can use the tip of the pen to apply the whitening mixture to your teeth. There are some advantages and disadvantages to using a bleaching pen to whiten your teeth.

Advantages of Using a Bleaching Pen to Whiten Teeth
The biggest advantage of using a bleaching pen is that you get excellent control of where you place the whitening gel. If you only want to whiten a couple of teeth you can easily do that with the pen. Or, if you have teeth that have deep stains and need more coverage than strips or other types of whiteners have the bleaching pen is a good choice. Bleaching pens are also usually fairly inexpensive, which is good for people who want to whiten their teeth without shelling out for expensive trays and strips. A bleaching pen is easy to apply anywhere and you can put the pen into a pocket or purse and take it with you for quick whitening.

Disadvantages of Using a Bleaching Pen to Whiten Teeth
There are some significant disadvantages that come with using a bleaching pen as well. Applying the whitening gel on some teeth can be difficult because of the shape of the applicator, leaving your teeth unevenly white. The whitening gel in the pen also usually takes at least 30 minutes to work. During that time you can’t eat, drink, or even talk very much. If you do the gel will become loose and won’t whiten your teeth. So unless you have at least half an hour to sit and do nothing a bleaching pen won’t be as effective as other types of whitening products. Also, the peroxide -based whitening gel used in bleaching pens isn’t very effective when it comes to whitening teeth. Studies have shown that the gel only whitens teeth a little bit, about as much as a whitening toothpaste.

Bleachorexia: A Serious Disorder Which Destroys Your Teeth

Bleachorexia may sound harmless, but it’s a very serious disorder. People who feel like their teeth are never white enough and bleach their teeth over and over are said to have bleachorexia. A dentist coined the term a few years ago when he started noticing patients coming in over and over for bleaching treatments whose teeth were in really bad shape as a result of the over bleaching. When a person has bleachorexia they usually use home bleaching kits several times a week and see the dentist for more in-depth bleaching on a regular basis. But the overexposure to harsh bleaching gels and additives in home bleaching kits can destroy teeth.

The Damages Caused by Over Bleaching
Someone who suffers from bleachorexia thinks that their teeth are never white enough, so they keep bleaching. But as they keep bleaching the enamel of the tooth is worn away. That leaves the inner part of the tooth exposed. The inner part of the tooth is naturally a yellowish color. When the person sees their teeth as being yellow they bleach again, which just makes the problem worse. Eventually the teeth become so weak and broken down that they crumble or fall part. Then the person has to endure root canals, crowns, and even implants just to fix the damage.

Bleachorexia on the Rise
According to dentists that specialize in cosmetic dentistry bleachorexia is on the rise. There is so much pressure on people to look great all the time these days that people are going to extremes bleaching their teeth constantly. In the era when selfies are popular and posting photos of yourself is expected everyone wants to look camera ready all the time. Having a white smile is expected, so people do whatever they can to make their smile look great. Unfortunately all that bleaching can destroy natural teeth. Using a natural tooth whitening product and using it responsibly is the best way to whiten teeth without causing massive damage to your teeth.

Bluish Enamel Is An Adverse Effect Of Teeth Bleaching

There are a lot of things that can go wrong with your teeth when at home bleaching kits are used. Sometimes cosmetic dental whitening can cause problems too, but the most severe damage to teeth is usually done by at home whitening kits. That’s because people don’t always use those kits correctly and because they don’t realize how damaging the whitening gel can be to their teeth and gums. Some of the problems that can occur when home bleaching kits are used too often include sensitivity, gum irritation, and bluish enamel around the edges of teeth. Seeing bluish colored enamel on teeth is a sign of a very serious problem.

What Bluish Enamel Means
It’s common for teeth and gums that come into contact with whitening gel to appear white. But if you notice that the enamel on your teeth has a bluish tint that means that the dentin of your teeth is exposed. Dentin is the bony tissue that lies under the enamel on a tooth. If you are seeing bluish colored tissue on your tooth that means that bleaching has destroyed the enamel on that tooth. Once that enamel has been destroyed there is no way to replace it. Enamel is there to protect the dentin and the pulp of your tooth so if the enamel is gone it means that your tooth is at risk of damage, infection, and you may eventually lose that tooth.

How Bleaching Causes Bluish Enamel
Bleaching the teeth with at home kits makes it easy for people to make mistakes. Leaving the gel on too long or using the whitening kit too often will wear away the enamel on the tooth. Even if you think you are following all the directions correctly there is a good chance that the tray that is supposed to fit over the teeth won’t fit correctly because it’s not custom made for your mouth. If you are using whitening strips the strips may not be on correctly or you might leave them on too long. A natural whitening solution is a better choice because it will not destroy your enamel but will give you a brighter and whiter smile.

Chewing Sugar Free Gums For Whiter Teeth

Brushing your teeth after meals is the best way to prevent the food that you eat from staining your teeth. But it’s not always possible to brush right after eating a meal, drinking coffee or having some wine with friends. If you eat out often and are concerned about your teeth getting stained by what you eat and drink there is an alternative to brushing. Chewing sugar free gum after eating or drinking has been proven to help prevent stains and keep your mouth healthy.

How Sugar Free Gum Helps Your Mouth
There are a couple of ways that sugar free gum can help prevent stained teeth. The first is that when you chew gum the gum acts like an abrasive on the teeth, gently scrubbing away any stains as well as food particles and plaque that get stuck to your teeth. As the gum scrubs away the stains and the debris your teeth will look whiter and no new stains will be able to set on the surface of the teeth. Chewing sugar free gum also stimulates the production of saliva in your mouth. That saliva will help rinse debris and plaque from your teeth. When your mouth has been rinsed by saliva your breath will be fresher and your teeth will be whiter.

Don’t Stop Brushing
Just because chewing sugar free gum will make your teeth whiter doesn’t mean that you can stop brushing though. You still need to brush your teeth with toothpaste at least twice a day. But if you are out with friends eating or you are working late and don’t get the chance to brush right after your meal don’t worry. Chewing sugar free gums will prevent stains and plaque and keep your teeth white. Just be sure that the gum is sugarless. Sugary gums can end up damaging your teeth and causing decay.

Danger of Teeth Whitening Using Non-Natural Techniques: Chemical Burns

Whether you use a DIY kit or have teeth whitening done at the dentist if you use a product or have a treatment done that doesn’t use natural elements to whiten teeth you could get hurt. Many products that aren’t naturally based use harsh chemicals that can destroy the surface of your teeth, ruin the enamel of the tooth, or even cause nasty chemical burns on the gums. Chemical burns on the gums can take weeks to heal and they are very painful.

DIY Kits
The teeth whitening kits that you can buy in stores are notorious for causing chemical burns and the loss of tooth enamel. Because these kits are made to be one size fits all they often don’t fit right. When the tray or the strip doesn’t fit your teeth exactly right there is a bigger risk that you will get some of the toxic tooth whitening solution on your gums which will cause burns. And the more you use these DIY kits the more damage will be done. Over time these kits strip the enamel from the teeth which can weaken the tooth and cause discoloration or even tooth loss.

Professional Whitening Treatments
Professional whitening treatments aren’t much safer than DIY kits. If the dentist performing the treatment hasn’t had enough training using a laser during light-accelerated whitening the laser could damage your teeth. If the gel or other whitening agents aren’t put on carefully or if the safety shield for your gums slips or isn’t applied correctly you could end up with serious chemical burns on your gums. Everyone makes mistakes, so even experienced dentists can cause injuries when performing teeth whitening procedures. It’s safer to choose a natural tooth whitener that won’t cause chemical burns, tooth loss or other problems when you want to whiten your teeth.

Eating Certain Fruits and Vegetables Keeps Teeth White And Healthy

Brushing your teeth and practicing good dental hygiene is important for keeping your teeth healthy and white. But, it’s not the only way to keep your teeth white. There are several different foods that you can eat that will help clean stains off your teeth and prevent foods from staining your teeth. There are fruits and vegetables that gently scrub your teeth as you eat them, which will remove food particles and stains from things like coffee, wine, juice or soda. Additionally these food stimulate your mouth to produce more saliva. The saliva will help wash your teeth and keep new stains from forming. So fruits and vegetables aren’t just good for you because they contain vitamins and minerals, they are good for you because they will also clean your teeth and make them strong.

Fruits That Will Clean Your Teeth
You have probably been told over the years to limit how much fruit you eat because the natural sugar in fruit can cause tooth decay and other problems. But the natural sugar in fruit doesn’t damage your teeth the way that processed sugar does so you can have more fruit than you think. Apples, strawberries and kiwi fruit are fruits that you can eat every day to clean your teeth and keep them healthy. Because these fruits are also high in Vitamin C they will keep your gums healthy too, which is an added bonus. An apple a day won’t just keep the doctor away, it will keep the dentist away too.

Vegetables That Will Clean Your Teeth
Are you eating enough vegetables each day? Most people aren’t. Adding vegetables like cauliflower, carrots and broccoli to your diet will make your teeth whiter and healthier. Pumpkins, sweet potatoes and cucumbers will also keep your teeth clean and your mouth healthy. There are many delicious ways to make these vegetables part of your diet. Just adding cucumbers to a salad or replacing chips with carrots and eating them with dip as a snack is all you need to do to whiten your teeth every day. Start adding these fruits and vegetables to your diet and you will notice quickly how much better your teeth look.

Excessive Use Of Whitening Gels Results In Tooth Sensitivity

Tooth sensitivity is a problem for a lot of people, but for people who use bleaching kits and other harsh tooth whitening products tooth sensitivity can become a huge problem. Tooth sensitivity that is caused by over bleaching teeth cannot be reversed, because the sensitivity is caused by a loss of tooth enamel. Excessive bleaching with strong whitening gels will wear down the enamel on teeth and leave the pulp of the tooth exposed. When the pulp is exposed the tooth will become extremely sensitive and painful. There is no way to replace tooth enamel once it’s been lost.

How Bleaching Causes Sensitivity
There are two different application methods for teeth whitening gels. One method uses a tray that is filled with whitening gel and put over your teeth. The tray stays on for a certain amount of time and the gel is supposed to remove stains and debris on the teeth to make them whiter. The second method is when a dentist applies a peroxide based gel to your teeth for a cosmetic bleaching. The gel sits on your teeth for about 20 minutes and then the dentist uses a laser to amplify the effect of the gel.

No matter what application method is used that gel is doing more than scrubbing stains off your teeth. It is eating through the enamel of the tooth. As the enamel breaks down and is washed away your teeth will become sensitive because the inner pulp of the tooth is being exposed. The more you bleach, the more pulp is exposed.

Living with Tooth Sensitivity
Even though sensitivity won’t cause any tooth loss it can still make life difficult and painful. Eating and drinking can be painful. Even the weather or allergies can trigger pain in your teeth if the enamel on the teeth has been worn away. You may have to give up some of your favorite foods and drinks if the sensitivity is severe. Living with tooth sensitivity won’t get any easier because the enamel cannot be replaced. Sensitivity is a permanent condition.

Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide Is A Tooth Cleanser

One of the best home remedies for stained teeth you probably already have in your cupboard. Food-grade hydrogen peroxide is a great tool for eliminating stains on teeth and preventing new stains. But, food-grade hydrogen peroxide can be rough on gums if you use it at full strength frequently. It’s better to dilute it a little bit or use it only on your teeth.

How it Works
Food-grade hydrogen peroxide first attacks stains, plaque and food debris left on teeth and then gently lifts that debris off the tooth so it can be rinsed with saliva or water. The natural action of the peroxide is a great tooth cleanser and it will naturally whiten your teeth. However you need to be sure that you are using food-grade hydrogen peroxide and not just the peroxide that you can buy in the drugstore. Food-grade hydrogen peroxide is specially purified and has none of the contaminants that drugstore quality peroxide has. Food-grade peroxide is safe to be consumed if you accidently swallow some while you are using it to whiten your teeth.

How to Use It
There are several ways that you can use food-grade hydrogen peroxide to whiten your teeth and prevent stains. You can brush your teeth with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda which will clean and whiten teeth. Or you can use a toothbrush or small brush to apply peroxide to each tooth individually. Another way you can get the benefits of peroxide for tooth whitening is to rinse your mouth with a small amount of peroxide after meals. Mixing the peroxide with a little water is a good way to tone down the peroxide if it’s too intense for you to use as a mouthwash. Over time peroxide may irritate the gums so watch for any redness or signs of irritation in your gums after using peroxide.

Laser Whitening For A Shining Smile

Laser Teeth Whitening

Laser whitening is one of the newest teeth whitening treatments. It is performed by a dentist in a dental office and usually takes about 15-30 minutes. During a laser whitening treatment the dentist will paint a mineralized whitening gel on your teeth and then use a laser to amplify the effects of the gel. The results can be dramatic because the laser amplified whitening can whiten teeth up to 11 shades lighter. But there are some disadvantages to using laser whitening too that you should consider before having laser whitening done.

Reasons to Try Laser Teeth Whitening
There is no question that laser whitening is effective. It can make your teeth a lot whiter, and in a very short amount of time. If you want fast tooth whitening that will leave you with a bright white smile chances are good that laser teeth whitening is one of the best options for you. But laser whitening doesn’t work on everyone’s teeth, and there are some disadvantages as well.

Problems with Laser Whitening
Laser whitening isn’t the right choice for everyone. It won’t work on everyone’s teeth. Teeth that are deeply stained as a result of using antibiotics or other medications won’t respond well to laser whitening. People who have deep staining on their teeth might notice their teeth lighten a little bit after a laser treatment but the laser won’t remove the entire stain. Laser whitening is also the most expensive type of whitening treatment. It can cost $1000 or more to have this procedure done. After the treatment the dentist will need to do a fluoride treatment on your teeth to counteract the effects of the laser.

And before and after the procedure there is some risk to your gums from the gel used to do the whitening. The gums can become irritated and inflamed as a result of contact with the gel. The laser amplifies that effect of the gel on the teeth but also amplifies the effect of the gel on the gums, which can cause long term gum problems. Even though laser teeth whitening does work the side effects and risks combined with the cost make it an option that most people don’t think is worth the result.

Light Accelerated Bleaching Is a Teeth Whitening Treatment

Light-accelerated bleaching is newer type of treatment for tooth whitening. It has to be done by a dentist who has been trained in how to use a laser for cosmetic dentistry. During a light-accelerated bleaching treatment the dentist will first spread a peroxide based gel on your teeth. The gel will sit on your teeth for around 15 or 20 minutes. Then the dentist will use a laser to accelerate the whitening process by activating minerals within the gel that is on your teeth.

The results can be very dramatic, because the use of the laser can whiten teeth up to 11 shades. People like this procedure because it’s relatively quick, it only has to be done once, and there are very noticeable results. But there are some concerns about light-accelerated tooth whitening that mean you should think carefully about it before you make an appointment.

Concerns About Light-Accelerated Bleaching

The cost of this procedure is high, and many people don’t have the disposable income to pay $1000 or more for a tooth whitening treatment. Because this is a cosmetic dentistry treatment most insurance will not cover it. There are also some safety concerns about the procedure. Anytime a laser is used on the body there can be damage done, in this case there is a risk of damage to the gums. The peroxide gel used on the teeth can cause damage, inflammation and irritation to the gums all by itself. So when the gel is amplified by the laser the gums can become raw and painful for up to a week after the procedure. There is also a risk to the teeth themselves. Dentists follow up the light-accelerated whitening with a fluoride treatment to try and strengthen any teeth that were weakened by the laser. Multiple treatments could cause tooth loss or breakage later on.

Light-accelerated bleaching may be a good fit for some people, but there are some definite risks as well as the high cost of the treatment that you need to consider before you decide that this treatment is something that you want to pursue.

Making Use of Baking Soda To Clean Your Teeth
Baking soda is one of the best natural cleansers and it’s safe to use on your teeth as well as for cleaning around the house. Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate, a naturally occurring mineral. It has been used for thousands of years in cooking, as a cleaning agent, and for treating dental and mouth problems. Baking soda is a great natural tooth cleaner and it can whiten your teeth and prevent stains. It is cheap and easy to find at any grocery store. Here are a few easy ways that you can use baking soda to prevent stained teeth:

Brush with Baking Soda
The simplest way to use baking soda to prevent tooth stains is to brush with it before you brush with your normal toothpaste. Pour a little baking soda into a small container or just remove the top of the box. Dip your toothbrush in some water or hold it under the faucet until all the bristles are wet. Dip the toothbrush into the baking soda. The baking soda will stick to the wet bristles on the brush. Brush your teeth for at least two minutes with the baking soda then rinse your mouth thoroughly. The baking soda will help eliminate stains and prevent new stains.

Add Baking Soda to Your Toothpaste
If you don’t want the hassle of brushing with baking soda and then brushing with your favorite toothpaste you can just combine them. Dip your brush into the baking soda and then put some toothpaste on your brush. Brush your teeth the way that you normally would with the toothpaste and baking soda mixture. Just be careful not to brush too hard if you do this, because the baking soda can be abrasive and cause irritated gums if you’re not careful.

After a few days of brushing with baking soda you will notice that your mouth feels healthier and your teeth look whiter.

Non-natural Teeth Bleaching Methods Cause Gum Irritation

Gum irritation is a byproduct of teeth whitening that is done incorrectly. This can happen when you use an at home bleaching kit or even when you visit a dentist for a cosmetic bleaching if the dentist isn’t paying close enough attention. Gum irritation is quite common after teeth bleaching but most of the time the damage isn’t permanent. It is painful and ugly however, and it can take anywhere from a week to a month to heal depending on the severity of the irritation.

Why it Happens
Gum irritation, burns, and blisters are all due to the bleaching gel used to whiten teeth coming in contact with the gums. When you use a DIY teeth bleaching kit the trays that the kit comes with are not made specifically for your mouth. Because they are not custom made they won’t fit tightly enough to prevent the whitening gel from coming in contact with your gums. When you leave the gel on for a long period of time to whiten your teeth that gel is also irritating and burning your gums at the same time.

When a dentist does a bleaching procedure they usually take the time to fit the bleaching tray to your mouth to prevent gum irritation. But sometimes the tray still isn’t tight enough, or the dentist gets some of the gel on the gums as well as on the teeth before a laser bleaching. The gel can turn the gums white and can cause blisters and burns that can make talking, eating or drinking very painful.

What to do About It
If you want to avoid the possibility of bleaching your teeth causing gum irritation don’t use at home bleaching kits that use chemical bleaching gels. Applying Vitamin E to irritated or burned gums will help them heal faster. And when you want to whiten your teeth choose a natural teeth whitening product that won’t hurt your gums and will still give you bright white teeth.

Organic Oil and Drinking From a Straw Prevent Your Teeth From Staining

Some of the most effective ways to keep your teeth from staining are easy to do, inexpensive, and don’t take a lot of time. You don’t need to use expensive and toxic whitening kits or go to a dentist to get whiter teeth. A great way to prevent stains on your teeth and improve your oral health is to start oil pulling.

Using Organic Oil for Whiter Teeth
Oil pulling is an ancient practice that has been used to improve oral health and keep teeth healthy and strong for centuries. All you need is some organic coconut oil, sesame oil or olive oil. Be sure that the oil you use is organic and food grade. Put a tablespoon or two of the oil in your mouth and swish it for 10-20 minutes every day. Just swish the oil around in your mouth. Then spit it out and rinse your mouth out. The oil will improve the health of your gums and whiten your teeth while it prevents new stains from forming on your teeth.

Drinking From a Straw
Another way to protect your teeth from stains is to drink through a straw. This protects your teeth from debris and from stains. You don’t have to give up wine, cola, or coffee in order to keep your teeth white. Just use a straw when you are drinking liquids that could potentially stain your teeth. Straws are cheap and you can keep a few in your bag or pocket so that you always have one with you, or you can ask for a straw with your drink in a restaurant or café. Straws direct the liquid past your front teeth eliminating the possibility that the liquid will stain your visible front teeth. Dentists often recommend people who have undergone whitening treatments use straws to keep their teeth white.

Over Bleaching Harms Your Teeth And Gums

Many people who find themselves bleaching their teeth often with DIY kits or getting bleaching treatments from the dentist don’t realize the damage that they are doing to their teeth. In some cases the damage is permanent. A lot of people who bleach their teeth using home kits made from gel trays and whitening strips don’t realize that those products aren’t meant to be used multiple times in a short time frame. Just because bleaching kits are sold over the counter in drugstore that doesn’t mean they are safe to on a regular basis. They can cause very serious damage to your teeth.

Whiter Teeth But Damaged Teeth
Using teeth whitening kits over and over will slowly strip the enamel off of your teeth. Once the enamel is gone the teeth will become stained very often because there will be no protective enamel left to cover the tooth. As the enamel wears away the caustic chemicals in the kit can even damage the pulp of the tooth. Damaged pulp will cause pain and it can weaken the tooth and eventually cause tooth loss. A better way to whiten your teeth is to use natural cleansers that won’t wear away the enamel of your teeth.

Gum Damage
Over bleaching your teeth can also cause serious gum damage. When the gums are exposed to the whitening gels in either at home bleaching kits or dentist given whitening treatments they can become irritated or red and raw. If the bleaching gels sit on gums for just a few minutes they can be burned by the whitening gel. Burned gums can blister and become very painful, making it hard to eat and drink. Your mouth will look terrible and hurt badly. Your gums could even become infected. Over bleaching is a problem that happens to many people who aren’t careful about what products they use to whiten their teeth.

Reasons For Using Teeth Whitening Products

By whitening your teeth, you eliminate stains caused by smoking, wine, coffee, cola, soda and other foods. Moreover a bright smile helps you to stop smoking. This is because, when you see your shining teeth, you don’t want to stain them with cigarettes.

It is a fact that with the aging process, teeth become yellow. The colour of your teeth gives clues about your age. If you invest in whitening your teeth, you look and feel more young and healthy. As a result, you no longer have to hide those discoloured teeth and you can smile as much as you can. You feel more confident in yourself and achieve more positive interactions with society. When you smile, you feel happy and more prepared to face life’s challenges.

Studies have shown that white teeth can improve your relationships and you appeal more to the other sex. You are more noticed when you are choosing the right mate. Many people look for bright teeth when they are dating a partner.

In addition a bright smile contributes to a greater success at work. A nice smile conveys a message of intelligence and responsibility in a working environment. Clients will approach you more and prefer you over others.

People of any age can invest in a shining smile without undergoing surgical procedures. Today there are cheap and safe alternatives that you can do. These over-the-counter remedies are harmless and risk-free and are easily managed by everyone: young and old. Moreover, bright teeth are not difficult to maintain.

Utilizing Whitening Strips To Whiten Your Teeth

Nowadays there are several solutions for a bright, white smile which vary greatly from those of ancient times. One such method is whitening strips. The latter are made up of polyethylene. This is a flexible material consisting of hydrogen peroxide. Humidity is caused when you apply these strips to your teeth and a chemical reaction takes place. A mild acid is formed which removes some teeth stains.

Before using whitening strips you should visit your dentist. The latter can identify the causes of discoloured or stained teeth. When this is done, you could decide which teeth whitening method is best for you. Brown or grey teeth stains are difficult to remove by whitening strips whereas yellow stains are eliminated more easily by using whitening strips.

When using whitening strips you should take note of the manufacturer’s instructions. When you know how to use these strips they yield positive results. However, you should not use these strips always because they can harm the teeth enamel as well as the tissue under the gum. Moreover, prolonged application of whitening strips causes your teeth to become transparent thus appearing darker. Also, you should avoid exposing the gums to these strips as this can cause irritation.
